Rhonie Black, LMSW, ACSW - Therapist

Rhonie earned her BA from Carson-Newsman College in Jefferson City, TN, in 1982 and a Master’s in Social Work and Theology (MSW) from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, in 1988. She served as a church and community ministry missionary with The Baptist Convention of New England in Waterbury, Connecticut, where she co-started a multicultural church and ministered for 25 years. She was a 2-year missionary with the Southern Baptist International Mission Board from 1982 to 1984 and served in Natal, Brazil.

She has a 30+ year history of providing individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapy within inpatient and outpatient behavioral health programs in hospitals, community mental health agencies, internal medicine, family practice settings, churches, church-related agencies, and on an Air Force Base.

She has post-graduate training in grief and bereavement therapy and 15 years of providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy with older adults within the hospital, assisted living, and convalescent home settings. Rhonie managed and conducted psychotherapy treatment for senior clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, chronic mental illness, and chronic medical problems.

Rhonie is a compassionate, warm, caring person who loves her work. She can empathize and build trust through humor and open and honest communication. She uses her extensive clinical experience and spiritual guidance to help individuals, couples, and families solve problems and life challenges. ]
