"What are your office hours?" The MASTERPEACE front office staff are available to take calls Monday-Thursday 9am to 5pm, Friday 9am to 2:30pm. Therapists schedule clients Monday-Saturday throughout the day and evening, but may not be able to answer the phone after hours.
"What is counseling?" Counseling is when you meet with a caring professional to talk about the events, people, situations, and issues that are negatively affecting your ability to live a happy and productive life. At MASTERPEACE you can safely, comfortably, and confidentially discuss your thoughts, behaviors, and/or feelings to make healthy changes to those events, situations, and issues. If you are in crisis, if you are considering suicide, or if you believe you might otherwise hurt yourself or someone else, seek help at the nearest hospital emergency room.
"When do I seek counseling?" These are some common symptoms and situations which may indicate the need for counseling:
Any time these or similar situations adversely affect your life, or the lives of people you care about, contact MASTERPEACE.
"How do I start counseling?" Start your healing process by calling our Intake Coordinator at 517-423-6889. The Intake Coordinator will ask you for some basic personal and insurance information. You will be asked to go to complete the new client questionnaire on this site, or fill out the paperwork in our office before your first scheduled appointment. The Intake Coordinator will verify your insurance coverage (if you have insurance) and match your needs with one of our qualified therapists. Finally, the Intake Coordinator or your assigned therapist will contact you to schedule an initial appointment.
"Do you take insurance, and how does that work?" MASTERPEACE participates with many insurance plans including, but not limited to Aetna, Beacon Health, Blue Care Network, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, ComPsych, Magellan, Medicare, and certain Medicaid plans. To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, the first thing you should do is call them. Listed below are some helpful questions to ask:
What are my outpatient mental health benefits in an office setting?
Do I have a deductible amount to meet first?
Do I have a Co-Pay/Co-Insurance or both?
Is MASTERPEACE in or out of network? (They can direct you to a website for in-network therapists)
What are out of network benefits?
Is an authorization required?
How many sessions am I allowed weekly? yearly?
"How will I pay for counseling?" During the intake process, our Intake Coordinator will discuss the fees and payment options with you. Your therapist will finalize the financial arrangements with you during your initial session.
