Lisa received her Master’s of Social Work in 1994 and has worked in the field of social work since 1987 but primarily in private practice providing children, individual, couple, family and group therapy in hospital, community mental health, schools and church settings. She is currently enrolled at Missio Seminary completing a series of advanced trauma classes with the Global Trauma Recovery Institute. Lisa provides treatment through a wide range of modalities including: biblical, trauma, psychodynamic, existential, person-centered, family systems and cognitive counseling theories with a sensitivity to adjusting her approach according to your preference and need. Those needs tend to be in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma (childhood, sexual, domestic, physical and health), relationship pain, grief, panic, self-harm and suicide. For those interested, she enjoys praying with people, considering how God might be pursuing you and to offer further study or reading on related topics.
Lisa believes counseling works best as a collaborative process with you in the driver’s seat. However, we will work together to identify what has been getting in the way of thriving in the way you want. Together, we will look for root causes beneath your struggles and doors that lead to greater health and healing. The most valuable part of counseling happens in the context of relationship which makes our relationship very important. Starting with your first inquiry you have placed trust in me. From there, it is Lisa’s hope that her office will be a place where your story is free to unfold, you feel accepted and you have a voice that will be celebrated and encouraged.
